We all were waiting this week for the shoe to drop regarding KU Football Coach Mark Mangino. Mark turned the program around, and any coach doing that would most likely have a lifetime job but that is not the case for this coach. I’m sure we don’t know everything. I seriously doubt that he was fired because he over-poked a played in the chest. There has to be more there. It’s too bad that this had to end this way. At least KU has a great football program. Sitting here in Wichita, I can’t help but think it’s been about 25 years since Wichita State had had football program. Cut back in the mid 80s, at a time when college football was about to blow up in popularity; KU and K-State both because power houses after the 80s. Could Wichita State have been in the same boat? I’m afraid we’ll never know. Oh, and if you haven’t heard, Hofstra University dropped its Football program this week ... after 72 years.
